For what is already the seventh time, Heimwerker Praxis has presented awards for the most outstanding tools, machines and products. In 2010, one of the “DIY Oscars” was taken back to Salzburg: The Kaindl TWO collection was chosen as “Best Product of the Year”.
- Kaindl real wood flooring wins the readers’ vote 2010
- 20,000 DIYers and craftsmen participated in the voting process
- Design diversity and simplicity of laying represented the key criteria
The award’s importance throughout the entire German-speaking region is primarily thanks to the jury formation. The final decision is namely made by the Heimwerker Praxis readers, who choose the winners in the individual categories from a list of nominees. This year saw some 20,000 DIYers and craftsmen participating in the large-scale selection process. “Our product concept is validated by the fact that our real wood flooring also rates particularly highly among consumers,” says a delighted Kaindl managing director Doris Buchmesser, commenting on the success. The TWO collection was able to assert itself in the final round against eight other competitors in the “Laminate Flooring/Parquet” category.
A test of strength by the expert editorial team
Long before the final, the tools and products are put through a professional test of strength by the Heimwerker Praxis editorial team. Only those able to withstand the scrutiny of the experts in the test laboratory are able to make the leap onto the list of nominees and to ultimately put themselves to the readers’ votes. Buchmesser: “The nomination is already evidence of quality in its own right. It is therefore with special pride that our real wood floorboards bear the title ‘Product of the Year’.” Alongside Kaindl, esteemed brands such Bosch, Kärcher or Max Bahr were also honoured in various other categories.
The criteria of quality and design
The Kaindl real wood flooring collection scored points with product attributes such as diversity of design, surface alignment, robustness and – last but not least – ease of laying. In addition to the tried and tested Kaindl click system, a trademark of the floorboards is also the diversely coloured surfaces and their multilayered UV varnishing. “Our real wood floorboards are demonstrably more resilient than prefinished parquet,” says Buchmesser, summarising the amazing performance of the flooring.
Since the start of 2010, Kaindl has been selling one of the collection’s signature finishes under the name “Authentic Oak”: The brushed oak floorboards reveal themselves to be particularly authentic and true to nature on account of their natural pore structure.
